FAQ

Questions, answered straight.

Pricing, access, service area and permits — the things people ask before they book.

01

How much does mini excavator hire cost in Sydney?

Hire starts from $200 per day for our 1.7 tonne mini excavator. The final price depends on whether you choose wet hire (with operator) or dry hire, how long you need the machine, your suburb and site access. Call 0452 500 484 or email us with your job details and you'll get a firm quote back the same day.

02

What's the difference between wet hire and dry hire?

Wet hire includes an experienced operator who runs the machine for you — you just point out the work. Dry hire is machine only, delivered to your site for self-operators who are confident and competent running a mini excavator themselves.

03

How narrow an access can a 1.7T mini excavator fit through?

From 90cm. With the tracks fully retracted the machine measures 990mm wide, so it squeezes down side paths and through standard gates from about 90cm clear — usually with no need to remove fences or pavers.

04

What areas do you service?

Inner West Sydney: Ryde, West Ryde, North Ryde, Meadowbank, Melrose Park, Ermington, Rydalmere, Dundas, Carlingford, Eastwood, Denistone, Putney, Gladesville, Hunters Hill, Marsfield and Macquarie Park. Greater Western Sydney: Parramatta, Blacktown, Penrith, Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, Kellyville, Rouse Hill, Riverstone, Quakers Hill, Seven Hills, Auburn, Fairfield, Liverpool, Merrylands, St Marys and Windsor — plus surrounding suburbs. Outside these areas, still get in touch.

05

Do I need a permit for excavation work in Sydney?

It depends on the job. Minor works like garden beds, small trenches and levelling on your own property usually don't need approval, while pool excavation, structural footings, retaining walls over a certain height and any work affecting the street, footpath or trees generally do. Always check with your local council before you dig, and book a free Dial Before You Dig (1100) service locate so underground utilities are marked.
